Been running into a lot of old DSC panels lately and the keypad contrast is a real issue

I had to swap out a bunch of old DSC PC5500 keypads for new ones with better screens. The old ones were so faded you could barely read them in daylight, but the new LCD models are way clearer. It made a huge difference for the customer, a small bank in Springfield, who kept having trouble arming the system. Anyone else found a good fix for those older panels besides a full keypad swap?

Yeah, that "faded in daylight" thing is so common with those. I saw a forum post once where a guy tried cleaning the inside of the plastic lens with rubbing alcohol, said it helped a bit for a while.

Wait, rubbing alcohol on plastic? That sounds risky. I've heard it can make some plastics cloudy or even crack them over time. A damp microfiber cloth on the outside is usually safer for a quick fix.
