TIL you can pull a fuel sample from the sump drain without soaking your whole sleeve
For about 6 years I did sump drains the same sloppy way, crack the valve, let it run into a cup while my arm sits right under the stream, then mop up the wing with a rag. I always smelled like avgas for the rest of the shift and my wife could tell the second I walked in the door. A guy named Ray at the shop in Mesa showed me to hold the cup tight to the drain and angle it so the fuel runs down the inside wall instead of splashing out. It sounds small but it saves a solid 10 minutes of cleanup per plane. Now I keep one clear cup with a line marked at 4 ounces and I can watch for water and sediment without holding my breath. Last week I did 3 planes in a row and my hands never got wet. If you are still doing it the old way, try the cup against the valve trick and let me know how much cleaner it goes for you.
