Basket liner vs. bare basket: my fries went from soggy to crispy in 3 weeks, but I'm not sure the liner gets the credit
So I got an air fryer back in January and my fries were coming out limp every single time for the first two weeks. I was doing 400 degrees for 18 minutes, shaking halfway, the usual stuff. Then I switched to a perforated silicone liner and after about 3 weeks of testing I noticed the fries were way crispier, but here's the thing, I also started soaking the potatoes in cold water for 20 minutes around the same time. Now I can't tell which change did the work. Side A says the liner lets hot air move under the food and that's the fix. Side B says the liner actually blocks airflow and the soaking is what mattered. I'm leaning toward the soak being the real hero but your mileage may vary depending on your model. What's the verdict here, does the liner help or hurt in your experience?
