Thought AI code helpers were just autocomplete hype until it saved my butt in Austin
I figured these AI coding assistants were mostly flashy demos that fell apart on real work. Then last month in Austin I had a gnarly bug in a legacy Python script and the assistant caught a bad loop in about 20 seconds that I'd been staring at since lunch. I'm still not sold on it writing whole features, but for tracing dumb mistakes it's earning its keep. What tasks do you all actually trust these helpers with?
