PSA: I just found out some AI voice cloning services don't need your consent to copy your voice

I was looking into a free demo on a site called VoiceForge.ai and their fine print says they can use any uploaded voice sample for training without asking again. It only took me 5 minutes of reading their terms to find that buried in paragraph 14. Has anyone else checked the legal stuff on these AI voice apps?

Holy crap, paragraph 14?! That's buried deep enough that most people would never see it. I can't believe they'd sneak that in there - basically giving themselves permission to take your voice and do whatever they want with it. That Wired article you mentioned sounds terrifying too, especially the part about family members getting those fake calls. Makes you wonder how many of these companies are just waiting for someone to upload a voice sample and then boom, they own it. What other sneaky stuff do you think they're hiding in those terms?

Did you catch that article in Wired magazine last month about voice cloning scams? They talked about how these companies collect voices from all kinds of places like YouTube videos and podcast clips without people knowing. It's scary how easy it is for them to grab your voice and use it however they want. I always read the fine print on anything involving my personal data now, especially after hearing about people getting calls that sound exactly like their family members asking for money. You really have to watch out for what you're signing away with these free demos and trials.
