My neighbor Linda spent 10 minutes showing me how to edge with a $7 hand tool and my yard finally looks like someone who cares lives here

Did I used to think a hand edger was just some hipster yard tool? Yeah, kinda. I was all about the gas trimmer until my neighbor Carol literally grabbed the thing out of my hand and showed me how to get a crisp line in two minutes flat. Now I have a spot near the mailbox that actually looks like a clean border instead of a weed patch. It's weird how something so simple can make such a difference.

That $60 used planer I snagged off Craigslist? Regret city.

Did you ever figure out what kind of leather it was, or if the stitching was actually original? I've been burned before on stuff people swore was "garage kept" for years, only to find out it was in a damp basement the whole time. It's really frustrating when you think you're getting a good deal and then start doubting everything about the story. I feel for you, honestly, because once that doubt creeps in, it's hard to shake. At the end of the day, if the price was right and it looks good, maybe it doesn't matter if he had a receipt or not. But the not knowing part can eat at you.

My cheap monitor stand sagged after 3 months, so I built a simple wood shelf for $12

That sagging feeling is the worst, isn't it?

Charging $50/hr for 3 years then doubled it overnight. Clients actually respected me more.

My hairdresser did the same thing and suddenly everyone wanted to book her.

I finally tried setting posts with gravel instead of concrete

Oh man, gravel is the secret weapon nobody talks about, right? I did the same thing on a fence line about three years ago and had the exact same experience. The first couple weeks it felt like I was just throwing money into a hole, but then the rain and frost worked their magic. Now you could probably ram a truck into that section and it'd barely budge. The settling is wild too, I noticed it sinks a good inch or two before it locks in proper.
