My 1980 pressing of London Calling sounds way better than the remaster I bought last year

I picked up the remaster on sale for $28 back in November and it felt harsh and flat in the highs, especially on the horns. Then I found a beat up original UK pressing at a flea market outside Portland for $6, cleaned it twice, and the bass actually thumps and the vocals have depth. Maybe it's just my setup, a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon with an Ortofon 2M Red, but the old copy just has more life. Has anyone else compared an original to a modern remaster and felt the same, or is my copy just a dud?
