My gym buddy and I argue over the science of pre-workout stretching.

Honestly, he says stretching cold is fine if you go slow, but I read that warm muscles handle stress better due to increased thermal energy. Tbh, this seems like a basic physics principle about how stuff acts when it gets hotter. Ngl, I'm leaning towards warming up, but I want to hear other views. How do you explain this?

Actually, I thought that too until I pulled something!

Proper form makes a huge difference though. Just warming up first can stop most problems. I've lifted plenty of heavy stuff and never had that problem.

Warm ups help but they aren't a magic fix. Genetics and past injuries play a big role, like baker.willow found out. Good form reduces risk, it doesn't remove it completely.
