My uncle's advice about brake fluid ruined my flush... then fixed it
My uncle, who ran a shop in Columbus for 30 years, told me to never use old brake fluid for a flush. I figured he was just being stingy about waste, so I used the half-empty bottle from last winter. Big mistake, air bubbles kept forming no matter how many times I bled the lines. After 2 hours of frustration, I bought a fresh $12 bottle and it took 20 minutes, zero bubbles. Has anyone else had old fluid cause this kind of headache, or was it something else like my bleeder valve? I'm still wondering if the bottle was just contaminated or if it was always going to be an issue.
