Tried a different way to heat my color bar and it went totally wrong
Honestly, I was working on a small vase yesterday and decided to put my color bar right at the front of the glory hole instead of the usual spot. Ngl, I thought it would heat more evenly. It ended up boiling and bubbling like crazy, ruining the whole rod. I learned that even a few inches can make a huge difference in how the glass reacts. Has anyone else messed up a color bar like that and found a better spot?

I keep mine about six inches back from the opening now.

Yeah, the "six inches back" thing is smart. My buddy learned that the hard way last winter when a raccoon got into his whole setup because it was too close to the edge. Took him weeks to fix the mess and the smell was unreal. He's a total convert to keeping things way back now.
