Spent $180 on garage ceiling racks, totally worth it for one reason

My garage was a mess of tubs stacked on tubs, and I kept buying stuff I already owned because I couldnt see it. Last month I finally put up two ceiling racks from the big box store, about $180 total with the lumber to reinforce the joists. The key was measuring my SUV's height first, I have about 10 inches of clearance so I stored only the light stuff up there like Christmas decorations and camping gear. It freed up a full wall where I can now park my second car, which feels like gaining a whole extra room. Anyone else ever measure wrong and end up with a rack that blocks their garage door or vehicle?
