I raised my rates by 30% last month and got more work

I was scared to do it, but after a slow winter I decided to bump my hourly rate from $50 to $65. I figured I'd get less interest, but I needed to make the same money with fewer clients. The weird thing is, I booked three new projects in the first two weeks after updating my website. One client even said the higher rate made me seem more experienced. I guess I was underselling myself for too long. Has anyone else had a project dry spell actually push them to make a change that paid off?

Yeah, that "seem more experienced" thing is real. I had a slow patch last year and finally upped my retainer. It was scary but it basically just filtered out the bad clients.

Higher rates can actually make you look legit.
