That old tube TV I almost tossed...
I had this 1979 Sony Trinitron sitting in my garage for like 5 years, figured it was just e-waste. Then a buddy said try recapping the power supply board, cost me maybe $12 in parts and it fired right up... picture is actually better than my modern LED set for retro gaming. Anyone else find an old CRT that just needed a little love?

A neighbor gave me a little 13 inch RCA from the 80s last year, thought it was dead. Dusted out the inside and found a cracked solder joint on the flyback, fixed it with a cheap iron from Harbor Freight. Works like a charm now for playing old NES games, colors are way better than the flat screen. Never knew how much I missed that fuzzy warm glow till I saw it light up again.

Ngl I was totally the opposite until recently. Used to just think old CRTs were just heavy junk taking up space, didn't get the hype at all. But then I found a little Sony Trinitron at a garage sale for like 5 bucks, plugged it in and played some SNES on it. Holy crap it was night and day compared to my flat screen. The way the scanlines just blend everything together makes old pixel art look how it was meant to. Now I totally get why people hunt these down.
