Ditched the plastic fermentation weights for glass ones after a batch of kimchi went moldy

I used to just cram a ziploc bag of brine on top of my ferments, but last October I lost a whole quart of kimchi to mold growing under the bag. Swapped to glass weights from the brew shop and now my kraut stays submerged without any weird air pockets. Anyone else have problems with bags leaking or floating?

Didn't your ziploc bag get the memo it's not a floatie?

Know what, @black.patricia, you're not wrong. I've seen people treat their sandwich bags like they're pool toys more than once. That thing will pop the second you hit the water funny. I guess some folks just really trust their zipper seals.
