Stopped by a local farm stand last week and their kimchi jar had a layer of mold floating on top
The guy running it said he's been making it the same way for 10 years and never had an issue, but I couldn't help wondering if anyone else has ever bought fermented stuff from a small place and found something off?

Trash it immediately, mold in fermented stuff means the whole batch is compromised.

Scooped off a tiny mold spot from my kraut once and the rest was perfectly fine.
