Serious question, my partner wants our fermenting crock in the living room for show, but I say kitchen only.
We're proud of our homemade ferments, but she likes displaying them like decor. I worry about smells and mess in shared areas. Where do you draw the line on fermentation visibility at home?

Ugh, been there with my last roommate! We tried the living room display for like a week before the kimchi smell won the argument. Maybe a spot in the kitchen where it's still kinda visible could be your middle ground.

But what if the smell is part of the charm? A living room kimchi jar is a bold statement. It tells guests you have real, fermenting food, not just decor. The funk could be a great conversation starter, and honestly, after a few days your nose just adjusts. Surrender to the kitchen and you admit the smell beat you.
