Spent a whole afternoon fixing a sleeve pattern that kept twisting
I kept seeing these cute blouse designs online, but the sleeves always looked off, like they were spiraling down the arm. Finally traced the issue to the grain line placement on the sleeve cap. My teacher in design school, Mrs. Ellis, always said 'the grain follows the straight of the arm,' but everyone seems to ignore that now. I redid my pattern piece three times before it hung right. Has anyone else had to relearn a basic rule because the current trend gets it wrong?

That grain line rule is a total game changer, honestly. Read a blog post from a tailor who said ignoring it is why fast fashion sleeves always look weird. Makes you appreciate the old school methods.

Ever wonder what other shortcuts they take?
