Watched a guy pull a 5-pound shoe off a draft horse in 3 minutes flat at a clinic in Kentucky

I went to that farrier clinic in Lexington last weekend and honestly I was blown away. This old timer just grabs the hoof with one hand and pops the nails out like it's nothing, no wrestling or stress on the horse. Makes me wonder if I've been overcomplicating my approach for years. Anyone else ever watch a demo and realize you've been doing a basic step way harder than it needs to be?

That 5 pound shoe trick is impressive no doubt, but I think you might be mixing up the weight a little. A draft horse shoe is usually around 2 to 3 pounds max, even for the big Clydesdales. Maybe the guy was holding the hoof and the shoe together when he said five pounds. Either way, that old timer's method is a good reminder that a clean, confident pull beats wrestling with it every time.
