The $15 rasp I almost threw away is now my go-to tool

Bought a cheap farrier rasp at a flea market in Ohio for $15, figured it'd be junk but needed one for a quick job on my buddy's horse. That thing actually held an edge for three full trims before it dulled, which surprised me compared to my usual $40 brand. Has anyone else found a bargain tool that actually worked better than expected?

Bet your bottom dollar cheap stuff surprises you more often than the expensive junk does.

Honestly yeah, I picked up a beat-up old drawknife at a yard sale for like eight bucks. Figured it'd be garbage but it's got this perfect edge that holds way better than the new one I bought from the hardware store. Sometimes the old junk just has better steel.
