Spotted a neat solution for noisy guide rails downtown
At the new office building on Main, the crew was using a graphite spray on the rails. It made the ride smoother and cut the squeaks right out. I'm trying that on my next maintenance run.
Remembered my buddy's old pickup truck. He used graphite on the door locks. Worked great for a week. Then the locks got all gritty and started sticking. Cleaned them out with compressed air and never used graphite again. Just ended up swapping the whole lock assembly. Lesson learned - sometimes dry stuff isn't better.
