Showerthought: My car's alignment issue reminded me of a pesky elevator leveling problem.

Dealing with a building where the floor stops are always off by an inch. Any quick fixes or is this a deeper hydraulic issue?

Honestly I used to just blame the elevator mechanics every time. But watching my own wooden door frames twist over a few seasons, or how driveway cracks slowly misalign a parked car's wheels, changed my mind. Now I'm wondering if the floor itself is slowly tilting under the elevator, maybe from soil shift or just the building settling weird. Could be fighting a losing battle just adjusting the lift if what it sits on is moving. Idk, maybe it's both things working against each other.

That building settling over time can throw off leveling almost like a driveway sinking under a parked car. Seen doors that stick in summer but swing free in winter just from frame shifts. Might be worth checking if the landing zones themselves are still true, not just the elevator's hydraulics. Could be a combo of both the machine and what it's attached to. Is it an older building or something newer that might still be settling?
