Just hit 500 service calls on the same Otis Gen2 system
I was looking over my log book and saw the count. It's a set of four elevators in a medical building downtown, been maintaining them for about three years now. The surprise was how many of those calls were for the same door zone sensor issue, maybe forty times. Anyone else find one specific gremlin that just won't quit on a particular install?

That sensor must think it's part of the building's security team, checking IDs every single trip. Forty calls is a whole career for that one little part. I'd be tempted to just give it its own nameplate and a time card at this point. Honestly, after the tenth visit, I would have started bringing it coffee.

Reminds me of my old car's check engine light. It'd come on for the same oxygen sensor every few months, a ghost in the machine I just learned to live with. You see it everywhere, like that one flickering streetlight on your block the city never fixes, or a website that always crashes on the same page. Some flaws just become part of the landscape, a weirdly stubborn piece of the whole picture.
