Worst week I've had on the job in 10 years

Started Monday with a panel change in an old house downtown. The homeowner had done some DIY work before I got there, and the whole thing was a mess. Found aluminum wiring hidden behind some drywall that wasn't on the prints. Then Wednesday, my impact driver died halfway through pulling cable for a new subpanel install. Had to finish the whole run with a hand screwdriver, took me like 3 extra hours. Friday topped it off when I got shocked by a live wire that someone had taped over instead of capping. Has anyone else run into a situation where the previous guy just left stuff live and buried in the wall?

Man that's brutal. I had almost the exact same thing happen last year. Found a junction box in a ceiling that was completely buried under blown insulation. Someone had just taped the wire nuts instead of using proper caps. Got zapped pretty good when I pulled the tape off. The handyman specials are the worst. No permits, no inspections, just pure chaos hidden behind walls. Makes you wonder how those houses haven't burned down yet.

Same thing in my last house. Found a junction box behind drywall with no cover at all, just wires hanging out stuffed with fiberglass insulation. Gives me the creeps thinking how close I was to having a fire.
