My leaky faucet taught me a lesson about duct tape last Tuesday
I patched a drip with duct tape 3 years ago and forgot about it, but last week it finally gave out and flooded my kitchen counter in under 10 minutes. Has anyone else had a temporary fix turn into a long-term disaster like this?

Is there a deadline for when a temporary fix officially becomes a permanent problem?

I read something just the other day about how the US Navy still uses some computer systems from the 1970s as a temporary fix that just stuck around. It makes me think that if a temporary fix lasts longer than a few months, it's probably already a permanent problem in disguise.
