My kitchen sink sprayer hose burst at the worst possible time
It happened last Tuesday right as I was washing dishes after dinner. One second it was fine, the next there was a loud pop and water shot straight up to the ceiling. I had to scramble to shut off the valve under the sink, which was stuck and took me a solid minute to turn. The whole floor was soaked. I found the hose had a split about three inches long right near the spray head. I went to the big box store and grabbed a basic replacement kit for about $25. The install was simple, just unscrewing the old line and putting the new one on, but the mess took longer to clean up than the fix. What's the longest you've had to wait for a part to show up when something like this breaks?

My old fridge compressor died in July and the replacement part was backordered for 17 days.

That 17 day wait for a compressor is brutal, @the_riley. I kept my stuff in coolers with ice for a week once. Did you end up getting a whole new fridge instead?
