Watched a perfect corner bead pop off 20 minutes after I set it

I was finishing up a basement remodel in Maplewood this Tuesday and everything was going smooth. Got the corners taped, mudded the first coat, stepped away to grab coffee for like 20 minutes. Came back and one whole corner bead had popped off the drywall. Just sitting there on the floor like it gave up. I used the same setting compound I always use, same technique, no drafts or anything. Had to scrape off all the fresh mud and start that corner over from scratch. Set it again with some extra screws this time but now I'm paranoid the whole job is cursed. Has anyone else had a corner bead just bail on them like that for no reason?

Did you check if the paper facing on the drywall got damp or had any glue residue from the tape? Sometimes that's what makes the mud not grab right.

Kept peeling off the tape on a job last year because I forgot to mud the paper first. Fresh Sheetrock with brand new tape and the mud just crumbled off like sand. @the_rowan you're totally right about that glue residue too. Had a spot where the tape was stuck to drywall paper from factory or something and the mud wouldn't bond no matter what I did. Had to scrape it all off and start over with a different tape brand.
