My uncle told me to always pre-cut my drywall before carrying it up stairs

He swore it saved his back for 30 years. I ignored him on a job in a three-story walk-up in Philly, trying to muscle full sheets. Halfway up, the sheet caught on the banister and I dropped it, punching a clean hole right through the wall we'd just finished. Had to patch a new panel and re-tape a whole corner. Anyone else have a simple tip they learned the hard way?

Ever try using a panel carrier for those tight stairwells? It lets you control the sheet's pivot point so it won't catch. I learned that after a similar disaster in an old row house. It's a cheap tool that saves a ton of headache.
