Yeah I was the same way until I read this... now I give them a proper look.

The 'proper look' thing you mentioned reminds me of this book I picked up last year. It was all about how our first guesses are usually wrong because we don't take time to see the whole picture. I used to just glance at things and move on, but now I try to slow down and really check them out. It's crazy how much you miss when you're not paying attention, you know? That change in habit has made a big difference in how I understand stuff.
