Vent: I've been running my dredge pump dry for months without realizing it
I was out on the Missouri River near Jefferson City last Tuesday and noticed the suction line kept vibrating weird. Turned out I never fully primed the pump before startup, so it was cavitating the whole time. Anybody else figure out a simple thing they were doing wrong way later than they should have?

@karen_shah56 at least your washer wasn't slowly destroying itself while you were deaf to the screaming.

Funny how you can do something wrong for months and not catch it. Your brain just assumes the noise is normal or the pump is old, not that you messed up the setup. Same thing happened to me with a washing machine at home. Kept getting these weird thumping sounds during the spin cycle and figured the load was just unbalanced. Turned out the floor wasn't level by like half an inch. Took me three months and a neighbor pointing it out. Sometimes the biggest mistakes are the ones you make so regularly they just blend into the background noise.
