That $700 dredge pump cover I bought new was a total waste in 4 weeks
Bought a brand new pump cover from a dealer in Memphis because the old one had a hairline crack. Paid 700 bucks thinking OEM was the safe call. Four weeks later the gasket surface warped from heat because it sat too close to the exhaust line I routed last spring. My buddy swore by the aftermarket steel cover with the extra fins. Should've listened. Ended up machining the old one and it's still running 6 months later. Anyone else get burned by fancy OEM parts when a basic rebuild kit would have done the job?
