Swore by my old pump schedule until a 2 AM call changed my mind

I ran a cutterhead on the Mississippi for 8 years and never touched the slurry density gauges, figured they were just extra wires. Then I blew a seal on a 14-inch suction line at 2 AM and lost 40 minutes of production while we flushed the line. Any of you guys actually calibrate those things weekly or am I overthinking this?

Yeah, I gotta disagree a little. Calibrating weekly feels like overkill unless your readings are drifting bad. I check mine monthly and it's fine. The seal blowout is a separate problem, not a density gauge issue.
