Spent $450 on a GPS guided dredge tracking system and it paid for itself in 2 months
I run a small crew out of Mobile Bay and we were doing a maintenance dredge on a channel that hadn't been touched in 8 years. We kept overshooting the target depth by a foot or more just guessing with the old sounder. I dropped $450 on a used GPS tracking system that shows real-time depth and position on a tablet. First day using it we cut out 3 extra passes that we would have done blind. That saved us about 6 hours of fuel and labor right there. Has anyone else tried these cheaper aftermarket setup kits or is it just me?
