Ran my suction line backwards for 18 months until a guy in Baton Rouge laughed at me
I was on a job near the Mississippi and this old timer asked why my cutterhead was spinning the wrong way, turns out I had the hydraulic hoses crossed the whole time and just thought the slow cut was normal. Fixed it in 5 minutes and dug triple the material that afternoon, has anyone else had a setup mistake that took way too long to spot?

Running a suction line backwards for a year and a half is not a mistake, that is just not paying attention to your own machine. Hoses crossed is the FIRST thing you check when a cut feels off, and a slow cut for 18 months should have had you under the hood on day two. A guy laughing at you in Baton Rouge did not fix your problem, he just pointed out you were never watching in the first place.
