Noticed something odd at the Lake Erie dredge spoil site last Tuesday
I was pulling a routine run near the old Ashtabula harbor cell and saw a bunch of gulls hanging around a spot where we'd dumped clean sand about 3 weeks ago. They weren't just picking at the usual stuff, they kept diving into the same low corner. Walked over after we shut down and found a shallow pocket of clay that must have slipped through the screen, still holding water and a few small fish. That's new to me, we always check for clumps before we unload. Has anyone else seen leftover fines cause a stink or attract birds like that at their sites?

Buddy of mine saw the same thing up in Erie, gulls went nuts over a clay pocket for two weeks straight.
