Had a cutterhead jam so bad yesterday I thought we'd lose the whole shift
Working a channel job near Biloxi and hit a tangled mess of old mooring lines that wrapped the cutterhead tight, took me 2 hours to reverse and clear it with a torch. Anyone else ever deal with rope or cable jams that shut you down for that long?

Two hours with a torch sounds like a party I'm glad I missed. Bet that mooring line was a real treat to untangle, probably felt like a bad magic trick where the rope just keeps coming. Next time just bring some scissors, might save you the headache.

Cut the rope and call it a day, that's what I would have done after the first 10 minutes. Honestly a torch in the dark sounds like a recipe for more tangles and maybe a singed eyebrow or two. Bet you were out there cursing the sea gods and that one knot that just refused to budge. Next time just bring a knife and save yourself the theatre, unless you enjoy the drama.
