Heads up about the new city permit office layout in Raleigh

I had to go down there yesterday to pull a permit for a commercial job. They moved the plan review station to the back corner, and the line for it now blocks the main aisle. I mean, it was a real mess trying to get past with a full set of 24x36 drawings. The clerk said they changed it 'to improve flow' but it's way worse. Has anyone else dealt with this and found a better time to go?

Ugh, that sounds like classic city planning logic. I got stuck in that same traffic jam last week trying to drop off a simple plumbing revision. The only "flow" they improved is the flow of people bumping into each other.

Tell me about it, I wasted half my lunch break just trying to turn left into that same permit office. They made the sidewalk wider but now cars are backed up into the actual intersection. It's like they only ever look at the maps and never at the real street. My favorite part is the new "efficiency" sign they put up right where everyone is honking. Pure genius.
