Found out my autocad layer count was way over 400 and nearly choked
I was cleaning up a project file for a commercial building we did last year and decided to run a layer audit in Autocad. Turns out I had 467 layers in that single drawing, most of them duplicates from copied blocks and imported details. Found it in the layer properties manager under the status column. Has anyone else ever run a purge and realized half their layers are just clutter?

Man @harper_singh18 is right, half those layers are probably empty... I've had the same thing happen with imported details from old projects, just run a laymrg and group whatever's leftover into a "MISC" layer and you're good.

Purge that thing and watch it drop by HALF, that's always the fun part of these audits. 400 layers sounds like a nightmare, but I bet half of them were just sitting there empty from some copied block you pulled in three years ago. Honestly I'm surprised the file even opened without crashing honestly.
