Old pine floors went from orange to redwood after one weekend of stripping
I spent Saturday and Sunday in my 1920s bungalow in Portland using a citrus stripper on the hallway, and the wood underneath was way darker than I expected. Turns out the previous owner had used a golden stain that had oxidized over 30 years, hiding the natural red tone. Anyone else get surprised by what's under their old finish?
I mean, my version of this is thinking I'm getting a nice golden oak and ending up with clown-red pine too, so I feel your pain. At least you can say it's "character" while I just stare at my floors and question every life choice that led me to a stripper weekend.
