My brother's shim trick fixed a crooked cabinet door in 10 minutes

My brother came over last weekend to help me hang new cabinet doors in the kitchen. I had one that sat crooked no matter how many times I adjusted the hinges. He just grabbed a pack of plastic shims from his truck and wedged one behind the hinge plate. That tiny adjustment solved it instantly. Anyone else ever had a simple fix that made you feel dumb for not thinking of it sooner?

Shims are one of those things you never think about until someone shows you, then suddenly you see them everywhere. Kinda makes you wonder what other obvious tricks we're all missing out on.
