My attempt to hang curtains ended up with me dangling from the curtain rod at 2am

I was trying to drill into a stud in my San Diego living room around midnight, but my drill bit slipped and I yanked the whole rod off the wall, crashing onto the floor with fabric wrapped around my head. Has anyone else had a curtain rod rebellion that left you questioning your life choices?

...so my buddy Dave tried to hang a pretty basic rod in his bedroom, the kind with those little plastic brackets. He thought he was a pro, just eyeballed the level, drilled right in. Next thing I know, it's like 1am and I get a text with a photo of him laying on his mattress with the rod and curtains completely collapsed on top of him, cats staring at him from the doorway. Said the brackets just snapped clean off the drywall, no stud, nothing. He spent the next hour patching holes with toothpaste and swearing he'd just use command hooks next time. Still makes me laugh when I think about it.
