Question about zip ties vs velcro straps, I flip flopped after seeing my buddy's setup in Rochester
For about 3 years I zip tied every single cable under my desk and I was proud of it, those little black ties cost me maybe $6 for a bag of 100 and I thought it looked so clean. Then last weekend I helped my buddy move his whole setup in Rochester and he uses velcro straps instead, and I finally got why. His cables came apart in seconds with zero cutting, mine took me 20 minutes with nail clippers because I couldn't find my real cutters. I had to swap out a monitor arm on my own desk two weeks ago and I literally cut three ties and then re did them wrong twice. The velcro roll he had was like $9 at a hardware store and it holds just as tight, plus I can add one cable without tearing the whole bundle apart. So now my rule is zip ties only for stuff that never moves, like the run along the back leg, and velcro for anything I might touch. What do you all use for the messy middle section where everything crosses, because that is where mine still looks like spaghetti?
