Rant: I swore that $3 funnel from the hardware store would ruin my pour over, and man was I wrong
I broke the plastic cone on my dripper 2 Sundays back and grabbed a $3 automotive funnel from the shop on 5th just to get through the morning. I told my brother it would channel like crazy and taste like gas, but the ribs on it actually kept the paper off the walls better than my old setup did. Three brews in, the cup was cleaner and I stopped eyeballing my kettle pour entirely. Now I want to know if anyone else has swapped in a part meant for a totally different job, and what happened.

Wait, ribs?? On a $3 auto funnel? That is blowing my mind right now, I always thought those cheap things were totally smooth inside. No way a gas station part just out brewed your real dripper.
