Hot take: my $4 plastic V60 knockoff beats the $40 ceramic one for daily brewing
I bought a ceramic Hario V60 for $40 at a shop in Austin last year and used it every morning. Then I grabbed a $4 plastic cone off a clearance shelf just to have a backup, and the plastic one pours better. The ceramic soaks up heat and makes the brew temp drop unevenly, while the plastic stays neutral and my cup comes out sweeter and more even. I ran the same beans and same grind side by side for a week and the cheap one won 5 out of 7 days. Has anyone else ditched their fancy ceramic dripper for plastic, or am I the only one who thinks this?
Seems like you already did a whole side by side test and found your answer, so not sure what the debate is here. Plastic and ceramic do hold heat differently, that part is real, but five out of seven days is barely a win and taste buds are not that precise. Drink whatever makes a good cup for you and let the $40 one sit on the shelf.
