Rant: my neighbor in Denver told me to quit torquing my lug nuts with the impact gun and I finally listened
I've been doing tire rotations in my driveway for years and always zipped the lugs back on with my cordless impact on the highest setting, never gave it a thought. My neighbor Dave, who used to turn wrenches at a shop off Colfax, watched me do it one Saturday and said I was stretching the studs and would warp my rotors eventually. I blew him off for like 6 months until I got a bad shimmy at highway speed and found two studs in the rear hub that were chewed up. Now I snug everything with the impact on the lowest setting and finish with a torque wrench set to 80 ft lbs in a star pattern, takes an extra two minutes. Anyone else have a torque spec they follow for their ride, or do you just go by feel?
