My neighbor's been changing his oil at 3,000 miles for 15 years and it's costing him $140 a year for nothing
Checked his manual last weekend, it says 7,500 miles for normal driving, and his last oil test at Blackstone came back clean at 6,000. Anyone else find their owner's manual interval is way longer than what they grew up doing?

Wasting $140 a year on extra oil changes is not the crime of the century honestly. Dude's been doing it 15 years, that's like two grand total, which sucks but it's not gonna wreck his retirement. My uncle still does his trucks every 3k and yeah the manual says 7,500 but that old man sleeps fine at night knowing his oil is always clean. The real question is why you're checking your neighbor's manual in the first place. Let the guy waste his money if it makes him happy, some people spend way more than that on stuff that's actually dumb.
