Warning: I tried to build a deck with just a circular saw and a hand drill, but renting a miter saw and impact driver cut my time in half.
My old method took me three full weekends of sore arms and splintered cuts. The miter saw gave me perfect 45-degree angles on the railings in about two minutes each, and the impact driver sank the 3-inch deck screws without stripping a single head. I spent about $75 on the rental, but it saved me days of work and frustration. Has anyone else had a simple tool upgrade make a huge difference on a basic project?

Used to be a total "use what you have" guy and thought renting was a waste. My last fence project with just a jigsaw and a regular drill was a total nightmare. Borrowed a neighbor's miter saw for the next one and it was a different world. Clean cuts in seconds instead of fighting the blade for minutes. The right tool for the job isn't just a saying, it's a game changer for your weekend and your sanity.
