The old timer at the lumber yard told me I was "framing like a banker" and it fixed my whole shed build
I was squaring up my 12x16 shed walls on the driveway and an older guy who runs the yard in my town watched me for a minute before saying I was framing like a banker, all neat and slow. At first I got annoyed, but he meant I was spending 20 minutes adjusting every stud when I should just tack them and true the wall after. So I changed how I work. Now I nail the top and bottom plates flush, pop a diagonal brace on, then square it with one corner-to-corner check before I sheet it. Cut my wall time from 3 hours down to about 45 minutes per wall and everything still lines up dead on. Anyone else get called out by a stranger who ended up being right?
