The day my shed project turned into a full scale rescue mission

So I'm building a simple 8x10 shed in the backyard, right? Everything's going fine until I go to set the last roof truss. I'm up on the ladder, holding it steady, when I hear this frantic scratching from inside the wall. I guess I'd sealed up a little friend without knowing. My neighbor, who was 'supervising' with a beer, just starts laughing and says, 'Well, you built it, now you gotta save it.' An hour later, I'm carefully prying off a sheet of plywood siding with a flat bar, and a very angry squirrel shoots out like a furry rocket, straight past my head. The whole thing set me back most of a Saturday. Has anyone else had a project completely derailed by unexpected wildlife?

That's just part of the building process sometimes. Unexpected guests come with the territory of working outside. At least you got a good story out of it.

Keep a cheap plastic tote in your truck with a towel and some cardboard. If you find a nest, gently move the whole thing into the tote and set it somewhere safe nearby. The parents will usually find it.
