I finally stopped overtightening my stem bolts after a guy at the shop asked me one question
I was cranking my stem bolts down hard because I thought tighter meant safer, until the mechanic at a place on Pine St asked me if I knew the torque spec and I admitted I did not. He handed me a $15 torque wrench from Harbor Freight and said 5 Nm, no more, and I have not stripped a bolt since. Anyone else learn torque specs the hard way or am I alone on this?
