Three month quest for a scent that didn't smell like a candle store
I thought I was done after trying the lavender one from the grocery store, but then my hands felt like sandpaper by Tuesday. So I went on this whole hunt through five different stores in Portland trying every citrus and herb option I could find. The winner ended up being a tiny bottle from a farmers market stall that costs 7 dollars and smells like actual lemons and thyme, not fake lemon candy. My hands still dry out a bit but it's nowhere near as bad as the big name brands. Has anyone else found that the smaller makers just get the scent balance right without wrecking your skin?

Curious what's actually in that farmers market bottle. Most citrus scents come from limonene, which can be harsh on skin, so I wonder if the small maker is using real essential oils or just a lower dose of the same stuff. Did the ingredient list tell you anything, or was it one of those handwritten labels with barely any info? Seven bucks is cheap enough to gamble on, but I'd want to know if it's the scent blend or just less detergent that saved your hands.
